The Grove Racing driver sustained the injury when he crashed his mountain bike during the break between the Christchurch and Symmons Plains events.
Fortunately for Payne the injury never put his participation in Tasmania in doubt, however it did require significant rehab in the lead-up to the race weekend.
Even across the weekend there was clear management of the in jury with Payne often spotted putting a cooling sling on immediately after getting out of the car.
Payne ended the weekend with an eighth, third and second from the three races and was pleased with how the wrist held up across three-days of on-track action.
He’s now looking for more recovery in the coming weeks to ensure he’s fully fit when the Supercars season resumes in Darwin on June 19-21.
“There’s a lot of gear changes going on around [Symmons Plains] and there’s some pretty quick laps, but yeah, I’m really happy with it,” Payne said of his wrist on Sunday evening.
“And I’m really happy to get through the weekend and being able to move on and have the next few weeks to get it even better.
“Then it should be absolutely 100 percent for the next round.
“I’m really proud of the effort that everyone’s helped me with and the journey that we’ve been on the last couple of weeks.”
